Each hourglass sand timer is colour-coded, and is an improvement on the traditional sand timer by using tiny, graded, coloured glass beads instead of sand. This ensures that the timers are free-flowing and do not stick. The hourglass timer bulbs are heavily cushioned and housed in shatterproof casing. If an accident occurs, the bulb is protected reducing the chance of breakage. In the rare event that the bulb breaks, glass is contained in the outer casing without making a mess. The brightly coloured end caps are pressure fitted so there are no screws to work loose.
